
KAORU TAGAWA (Singer Songwriter/Copywriter/Contents Creator/Translator/Interpreter/Editor/Coordinator, etc)
Born in Hiroshima-City, Japan in 1977. Moved to the US at the age of 15 with his family. His family had moved to the US because of his father’s, Kokichi Tagawa, who was 46 years old at the time, desire to pursuit his passion for jazz music. His father attended and graduated from Berklee College of Music. Upon moving to the US, Kaoru joined a local public high school, where he struggled to learn English. After finishing high school, he studied at UMASS Amherst. Graduated in 1999 with BA in Communication and minor degree in Psychology.
After university, he backpacked across US and Europe and ended up in Tokyo in 2001. He has worked as a writer, lyricist, radio DJ, translator, interpreter, editor, coordinator, etc since then. He has work experiences at various international corporations including Morgan Stanley and SONY, as well as international events such as World Cup 2002 and Tokyo Olympics/Paralympics 2020.
Founder and CEO at his own company K.K. Laboratory, which was established in 2014.
As a writer, he has written for media such as Lifehacker Japan, Business Insider Japan, and Data no jikan (The Data Times), etc. He has published a number of e-books at Amazon Kindle under the name of Miles Yebisu. As a translator, he has frequently worked with commercial photographer Akio Tomari and copywriter legends such as Sho Akiyama and Hiroshi Ichikura. As an interpreter, he has worked for National Geographic Magazines (Tokyo article published in April 2019) and he has been working for a popular TV show “Why did you come to Japan?.” As a lyricist, he has written numerous songs for popular video game series such as “True Love Story,” “Kimi Kiss” as well as “True Fortune.” As a copywriter, he has written the label copy for a brand new craft gin brand “Tokyo Hachio Gin” and the team slogan “NO RIGHT ANSWER. ONLY SOLUTIONS” for NTT DATA MOBILITY TEAM.
His language skills (Japanese/English) combined with his outstanding communication skills and extensive knowledge gained through traveling around the world (he has visited more than 50 countries), he continues to produce more smiles on the faces of happy clients at all workplaces. He’s currently trying to release his first album “Ray of Light,” which was the reason for him to create this homepage, but the release date has not been set as of June 30th, 2022.
After working remotely for a few years due to COVID-19, he no longer saw the benefit of paying expensive rent in Ebisu, Tokyo and he has moved out of Tokyo in May 2022. He’s currently residing in Iwaki-City, Fukushima-Pref. He can be reached via facebook, twitter, or instagram.
